Geri Amori, PhD, ARM, DFASHRM, CPHRM, and Certified Executive Coach, is a nationally known speaker, facilitator, and consultant on risk management and communication issues in healthcare and patient safety. As an Executive Coach, Dr. Amori focuses on human interaction, effective communication, conflict resolution, and leadership and team development in healthcare. She serves as a senior director of the Risk Management and Patient Safety Institute, as well as on the Board of Consumers Advancing Patient Safety, and the Joint Commission International Committee on Communication in Healthcare. Dr. Amori is a past president of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and the Northern New England Society for Healthcare Risk Management. Previously, Dr. Amori served as principal of Communicating HealthCare, which promoted the development of risk management skills and focused on communication issues in health care. She also served as risk manager for Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT. In 2004, she received ASHRM's coveted Distinguished Service Award. Geri has a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Human Systems from Florida State University and a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Florida and is a Certified Coach and Mentor Coach through the New Agreements Coaching and Leadership Institute. Dr. Amori's most recent publications include: Office Practice Management, Physician Practice Management (Jones and Bartlett Publishers) and with P.B. Martin and R.J. Goeltz, First, Do No Harm Part 3: Healing Lives, Changing Cultures Facilitator's Guide, Partnership for Patient Safety. Geri has a passion for humans and the human spirit. She is a teacher and mentor who believes that people can reach their potential by recognizing and understanding how our interactions affect our performance, our feelings, and the reactions of others. With more than ten years experience in mental health as well as years as a healthcare manager and teacher, Geri provides caring, pragmatic, experienced and inspired coaching to those working in healthcare, and to those who interact with the healthcare system.
